Snatch This One, Now!,
Pay attention folks. All true. A DC native, I’ve been trying to break in for 4 years with the same outcome. I get to someone to move my scripts, they see something wrong in my work or I say something dumb and it’s over.
Suggested to me by a friend, the info in this video has finally put me in the grasp of real success. (And I’m not just saying that, I’ll explain later.)
First, if you want slick production value turn on MTV, Hype Williams can hook you up. The “Dragnet” style is “just the facts.” The interviewer’s flat but the interviewee is fantastic. Laurie Scheer. She takes apart pitches in seconds. She’s all pro… Thank God! Tired of posers who talk but have never done.
This video is an absolute TREASURE TROVE of information. It tells you…
1. The books and software to buy for writing a script.
2. What texts to buy to market your script.
3. The proper way to present your script so folks don’t think “Amateur!”
4. The proper way to pitch your script… On the phone/In e-mail/In person.
5. What steps to take once a studio is interested.
And the resources they quote, even with my skimpy knowledge, I recognized as industry standard. “Final Draft, Hollywood Creative Directory, etc.”
And it’s fun! You watch actual script pitches from real writers. Some weak, some great! (I’d option some of these ideas.) Hope they registered with WGA.
Anyway, I normally don’t bother writing reviews but as a result of the advice in this DVD I have a major Hollywood development person ready to hand out my new horror script. So, I gotta give this DVD love!

|Successful Screenwriting Made Easy,
This 90 minute DVD has more practical information on how to sell your screenplay than any screenwriting seminar I’ve ever attended.
It offers an entertaining and in-depth look into the screenwriting business and how it operates today. Actual pitch sessions of aspiring screenwriters are used as complete case studies and present a wealth of knowledge for the viewer. The writer can learn from actual pitch sessions and see exactly what not to do! It’s a must-see DVD for any writer who wants to know how studio executives view projects and the writers who pitch them.
Renowned screenwriter William Goldman once said, “No one in Hollywood knows anything.” Perhaps Mr. Goldman never met Laurie Scheer, the notable television and film development exec. who is the guide on this DVD. Ms. Sheer knows the ins & outs of this business and shares her expertise so the writer can go into pitch meetings confidently.
By using the ideas and methods presented in this DVD and by writing a great screenplay, the screenwriter can become an successful writer who sells his or her work.

|THIS is how it should be done,
Having heard dozens of pitches, I wish most of the writers on the other side of the table had seen this before they came in. It gives an excellent ground-up foundation, and is very clear and direct. I was particularly impressed with the featured speaker Laurie Scheer (and later contacted her through her website http://www.lauriescheer.com).
If you’ve put your energy into a fantastic idea, don’t kill it with a bad pitch. Something like this can really give writers (especially new writers) an edge.
